I'm still not very confident on Photoshop and I don't understand how to do alot but I have picked up on a few tools and have adapted some of my original portrait photos.
All I have done with this image is outline it using the brush tool. I think it gives a good effect as it does make the image stand out but maybe my steady hand needs working on as the lines are quite wonky. It was the best I could do at this stage.

Here I have just altered the colour of the photo and turned it Grayscale.
The image looks better and covers any blemishes on the model.

Can you spot the difference on this image?

I have altered her eye colour from blue to green. I thought this would be a good image to try something like this as her eyes are close up and you can see all of the detail.
I tried the same with the hair this time but it didn't work as good. This time it looked a little crazy and very unprofessional like something you can do on Paint.

This final I image that I edited has worked well. I altered the balance on the shadows and highlights. The original image as you can see had a very dark background and with the shadows been lifted you can see much more of the whats going on in the background. Plus it gives more definition to the face and makes it stand out. I also brought out the red tones in the photo which has definetly brightened up the cheeks.
