Corinne Day ..

In a group meeting we had it was decided that we were going to look at the photographer Corinne Day for inspiration for our shoot.

A bit about her ..
Corinne Day is a self-taught British photogapher who is quite famously known for taking the first model shoots of Kate Moss in 1993. She also created the 'waif' look.

Clients:
Most of her work today can be found in British, Italian and Japenese Vogue. She also does work for Face magazine.

Career History:
Corinne is known for developing long-term relationships with all of her models as she feels it produces better imagery if the model feels comfortable with the photgrapher. She has now produced a book called 'Diary' which is about all of her friends i think. I'm trying to find out more about that but it's seems hard to research.

Style:
She started out shooting the Grunge look but grew into a more international style as her work got more publicity. She is against the use of airbrushing in her photos which is a shame as for this project we will be using Photoshop to adapt some of our images.

Personal History:
Corinne day was born in 1965. Her parents split when she was young sp she grew up with her grandparents and brother. She is said to have had a happy and idealic childhood. Before she was a photographer Corinne was a international glamour model and made quite a sucess out of it but in the end found it wasn't for her. She also developed a brain tumor somewhere along the lines but I'm not quite sure on the dates but she survived and is healthy now.

That is just a little bit of info I found on Corinne Day.

Other Wonderland Shoots.

These images were photographed by Miguel Reveriego for Wonderland.
I think they are amazing as they give off this artistic feel to them yet still holding that high fashion concept.
This is the kind of thing I imagine our photoshoot to look like as I want it to be a bit quirky but not too much that it scares away Topshop's customer base. These will be perfect to show my group at our next meeting.

Wonderland Imagery.

Liv Taylor Shoot:

I think this shoot is gorgeous! I think they have made the actress look stunning but still kept that edgy kinda look with poses they have chosen.
I love the effect it has in black & white and this could be a good concept to bring up to the rest of the group as black & white imagery always looks professional yet on the other hand it may not be such a good idea as we are doing an advertising campaign and you can't advertise clothes properly when you can't see the colour of them. It won't give off any type of colour trend or pattern which is what Topshop's adverts normally portray.

Megan Fox Shoot:

After looking through a few shoots the Megan Fox one is my favourite. Maybe it's because I think she looks stunning in these photos or it's the location and poses she's been put in but the whole thing works.
As they are in colour I feel it fits better with the whole Topshop concept of things as I could actually see these photos going straight into a Topshop window.
The big hair ans dramatic eyes that the make-up artist and hair stylist have given her has really made an impact to this shoot I think. It creates this whole glamorous feel even though the actual location isn't all that glamorous.
The black & white photos are good as well I especially love the face one as it shows a good element of beauty. This has clearly been done using photoshop in post-production. I would like to have a go at getting that effect myself so I may have a play around on Photoshop with a photo of my own some time.

Wonderland Magazine!

After we was given the project Four brief I decided to look into Wonderland to get bit more of a feel for it as I haven't looked at it that often before.

From first looking at the magazine I think you can tell it's more of a up market magazine rather then you're usual commercial Vogue just from the images on the front.
They are all quite striking and eye-catching which I don't find as much with Vogue. I knew from just viewing a couple of the previous edition covers I was excited about this magazine. It looks high fashion, high photography, high quality.

Here are a few more examples of Wonderland covers I liked:

I bought a copy of the magazine as you can't really tell from the cover what type of magazine it is and what will feature inside. I was happy to find a huge fashion section which is great as it relates straight to my course and makes me a little more familiar with it all. The features are all great but I don't really need to go into them at this point.

I was looking at the advertising and Topshop doesn't look like it would fit right into Wonderland as it is so I think we will need to adjust Topshop's style alittle and make it more edgy and quirky so it looks more like an advert that would be featured in a Wonderland magazine.

Project Three .. Chosen Photo

I was put into a group of 4 and together we had to discuss each others photographs and choose the best one out of each and explain why we chose this and why we didn't choose the others.

The photo above is the one we decided was the best in our group. The main reasons that the others gave was that it had a good structure to the pose which made it a strong image and lots could be done with it such as advert campaigns. I agree completly with what the others said and I also feel a lot could be done on photoshop with this image and it would be good to play around with.

The other photos were good which we all agreed on but they didn't have that quality that the others had.

Project Four .. Briefing

All this post is is an explanation of my fourth project and what it involves so when I upload all my ideas and work you'll understand what it's for and why it's there.

I have been allocated a group of 4 people to work with and together we have to discuss and decide on a final photo shoot for a company campaign which will be featured in a magazine (not really but lets pretend).

We were given the magazine Wonderland to put our campaign shots into and Topshop as our brand. I think we were quite lucky in a sense as Topshop is a commercial brand and even though we can't go too crazy we can still go a little out there as Topshop is quite quirky.

It will involve some individual and team work but I am very excited about this project as it gives me a chance to show I can contribute to a team and work well with others.

Project Three .. Portraits

For this assignment I was asked to take 20 portarit photographs of people in any way I felt fit. I decided to approach this from a different angle and take some everyday photos and some posed ones. Some of my photos are from a previous time which I thought suited this project perfectly so I used them.
Here are a few of my shots:

As you can see there are varied shots and like quite alot of them. Afew can be alerted to make better in photoshop which I will later do. If I was to re-do this part of the project I would get some more male shots as I feel it could bring in a new element and I could get some interesting shots from them. I did do one shot of a male but it wasn't one of the best due to the angle it was taken I think. I have tried to upload it onto here to show you but there's a problem in which it cannot load.
